Increasing Web Site Traffic
Most webmasters whom I talk to, want to increase web traffic to their
site. The reason being, that they believe that they can increase sales,
affiliate commissions, or advertising revenue, by doing so.
For two guides on this exact topic, you can try:
I recommend that you take a look at the above guides, if you need lots of
ideas or more detailed information on some of the ideas.
However, I don't want to leave you hanging, so, here are ten traffic boosting ideas
to get you started:
- You could promote your site by Search Engine positioning strategies,
see our
Search Engine Marketing resources.
- You could advertise on Pay Per Click Search engines, see our
Pay Per Click Search Engine resources.
- You could advertise your site using
Google AdWords.
You might find the following resources helpful for this:
- AdWords Secrets Revealed
eBook about to profit from Google AdWords. Contains 25+ tips.
- Mastering Google AdWords
eBook optimizing Google AdWords advertising campaigns, including how to cut costs, increase click-thru-rate, and retain top position.
- Ad Word Generator
This software takes the pain out of creating AdWords ads.
- AdWord Equalizer Suite
This software is designed to help you find the most profitable products to market using AdWords, and the best keywords to use.
- You could use opt-in email marketing - see our
Email Marketing resources.
- You could exchange links with other web sites, see,
for example
Linking101
(this is reviewed here).
- You could start your own "top site". Basically this is sophisticated
method of exchanging links and traffic with other sites, but you, as owner
of the top site, benefit the most. To implement your own top site, you
will need a script such as our own
PHP Top Site Script.
If you can't use our script for some reason, there are other choices for
ASP,
CGI,
PHP,
and Remotely Hosted
listed at Hits4me.com.
- You could try to get your business in the news, use press releases
and other forms of publicity, see our
Publicity resources.
- You could start your own affiliate
program (pay other sites commission for helping generate traffic, leads
or sales). There is an introduction to
starting an affiliate program
at MerchantKit.com.
- If you are trying to sell more of your products, you could sell them at
eBay and other
auction sites. See our
Auction Marketing resources.
- You could create a free eBook, give it away, and encourage others
to give it away to. This "viral" eBook would contain useful
information for readers, but also promote your business. See our
eBook Publishing resources.
