Review
This is a PDF format eBook, that comes with resell rights (you are allowed
to sell copies of the eBook if you want).
The eBook is quite large (215 pages) and after the introductory information,
mostly consists of:
- About 20 pages explaining the basics of email marketing (along with a
few good tips) - much of which is reprinted articles various article by
various marketing "gurus" such as Mark Joyner and Jim Daniels.
- The bulk (and main value) of the book consists of various email
messages organized by topic
such as Acquiring New Customers and Subcribers, Endorsement Emails,
Joint Ventures, etc.
These emails are real marketing emails that
have been tried and tested in the real world - and each comes with useful
background information which places them in context, and in many cases
explains the thinking behind the email.
While I think many readers will tend to skip read the emails, I think
that would be a mistake. Some contain excellent examples of copywriting
and the art of persuasion - ideas that you can learn from.
- Finally at the end of the book is a resource section, that
includes some links to online resources, plus
two brief bonus sections.
The bonus sections contain
respectively "101 Best Email Subject Lines" and a checklist for
you to use before sending out marketing emails.
Given the shortness of the bonus sections, I think many readers might not
realize their true value. But, based on the number of
emails that I receive with bad subject lines, or other basic errors,
I think this is handy info to have.
Some other thoughts:
- I am not personally a big fan of reading PDFs on the computer
screen (I find it
awkward with too much zooming in and out), but the eBook prints nicely
when I tried it.
- One feature that is handy (that not many PDF eBooks have)
if you do want to browse the eBook on your computer, is the author
has set up properly labelled bookmarks, which allow you to jump
(in the Acrobat viewer) directly to named sections of the book.
- The copyright date on this eBook is 2001.
I haven't checked
every hyperlink in the eBook, but I suspect that it's possible that
some of them may lead to web sites that no longer exist.
However, it would be a mistake to regard this as "out of date".
The fact is it contains a vast quantity of information, and numerous
examples of good email marketing and copywriting - and that information
is essentially timeless.
Conclusion
Overall, I think this a very good eBook, even 4 years after it was first
published. (How many other eBooks can you say that for?).
Overall rating is therefore highly recommended.
Our company has resell rights to this eBook, so if you are interested in
