Review Of Kanoodle(Review updated - March 2003)
Quick Summary
ReviewKanoodle is one of the larger (and better) pay-per-click search engines delivering tens of millions of searches every month from their own site, and from other sites. (Pay-per-click means that you place bids on relevant keywords (the more you bid the higher up the results you come), and only pay a person clicks on your search term).Minimum bids for new advertisers now start at $0.05 (seems to be a trend in this market), and go up in $0.01 increments. That said, because Kanoodle seems to be relatively less well-known than say Overture (Review Here), you may be able to get your keyword bids at a relative bargain price (you can bet I did). The account management area is very clear, I really like it, and it's easy to get lots of keywords in, manage your listings, monitor your activity. Definitely one of the things I like about them. I also understand they provide help on getting set up to new advertisers under a new program (I signed up before they had this). Just like most other large pay per clicks, Kanoodle does have relevancy rules about what keywords you can bid on. I do like the fact that, compared to many of their competitors, their rules are both less restrictive (you have a good degree of choice) and less prescriptive (you don't get that nasty feeling of being bossed around that some search engines can give you). Affiliates will also like the fact they allow direct linking to your affiliate-link URLs (but do check with affiliate programs you participate in before doing this, as some affiliate programs do not allow it!). As with most pay per click search engines, you may find the best strategy is to bid on lots of relevant keywords - our own Pay Per Click Galaxy program could be helpful with this task. Finally one last feature that's pretty neat: the top 3 bidders on a keyword get a free share of the banner impressions above their keyword listings. I think that this is only on Kanoodle's own site (and not on other sites that display Kanoodle results), and unless your keyword is search a zillion times per month it won't be that many impressions, but even so, it's a pretty nice feature. ConclusionI haven't been a Kanoodle advertiser that long, but I'm very happy so far.In summary, and I highly recommend Kanoodle. Visit Kanoodle web site for more information |
